Timothy turns one!

Timothy had his first birthday yesterday! Our celebration was pretty low-key. We just had a nice dinner and yummy carrot cake, and Timothy opened his presents. Such fun ones! He got an adorable new bib and Mother Goose nursery rhymes book from his auntie Lisa and uncle Steve; some clothes, a kids' songs CD, and a neat phone that makes noises from Grandma and Grandpa; and lots of beautiful cards--including lovely handmade ones from his cousins. His favourite part of the present-unwrapping was actually playing with the boxes! Only a one-year-old!

But the other big event of the day was Timothy's first haircut! David and I both took part in the ritual, and even though we just took snips here and there, with no method to the madness, it still turned out okay. It's a little shaggy, but he's got curly hair, so it will never be exactly right without using an electric buzzer. I collected most of the hair in an envelope to save. It's so nice and fluffy... it would make a great birds' nest.

All in all, we had a nice day (until Timothy woke up at 2am...but I guess that was November 6 already). Happy birthday, Timothy!

P.S. Thanks, everyone who's sent condolences about Jack. He's still missing, so I guess he's gone for good. The odd thing is that Timothy hasn't let me get him attached to anything else instead. Poor little guy!
